Wool and Silk Rug Submersion Wash

A dedicated off-site wash for Persian, Turkish, Afghan, and high-twist British wool rugs. We gently dislodge dried grit from deep within the foundation, wash the pile in soft water, and dry the textile in a ventilated drying room. The weave returns supple, free from compacted dust and fibre stiffness.

Why our approach works

Full submersion wash, controlled dust beating, and flat drying for heirloom textiles.

Protects warp and weft

Removing sharp quartz dust stops the internal threads from shearing under everyday footsteps.

True colour clarity

Submersion clears away the grey film that household vacuums leave pressed against the pile base.

Residue-free softness

Because we rinse with copious soft water, the wool dries soft instead of crunchy or sticky.

Questions about this service

Do you clean the rugs on my living room floor?

No, hand-knotted rugs need full water flushing and dedicated drying grids, so we collect and wash them in our workshop.

How do you avoid dye bleeding on antique rugs?

We test every colour group with warm water and wool detergent, and use acidic stabilisers if any fugitive dye is detected.

What is the typical turnaround time?

Most rugs take between seven and ten working days to allow complete, unhurried air drying.

Notes from our clients

★★★★★
The team treated our oiled oak flooring and hand-knotted wool hallway runner. They worked at a calm pace with pure vegetable soap and low-moisture steam. The rooms simply smelled fresh without any chemical sting.
Arthur P., London, GB
★★★★★
Alistair arrived exactly at nine in the morning, placed canvas runners over our hall tiles, and lifted coffee marks from our linen armchairs. Settle payment by bank transfer after walking through each room.
Eleanor W., Bristol, GB
★★★★☆
We use them for our Bath stone entry hall and dining room carpets. Honest guidance on what deep historic patina should remain and what could be lifted gently. Quiet machinery throughout.
Giles T., Bath, GB
